Platinum-selling, singer-songwriter Alice Merton releases her most exciting single to date with “Why So Serious”. The single will be featured on her upcoming and much-anticipated debut album Mint, out Jan. 18 2019 via Mom + Pop Music (Pre-Order Sept. 21st).
After rising to fame two years ago in 2016 with her explosive debut single “No Roots” (Mom + Pop), written about her constant moving homes as a child becoming such as huge debut, it’s safe to say it’s been a whirlwind for Alice Merton with 124 Million YouTube hits to date. With an early mission statement to perform and write music she has a passion for, to be an artist she’s proud of, and to keep an independent way of thinking, she took things into her own hands and started Paper Plane Records Int. with her best friend and manager Paul Grauwinkel and together formed some huge plans.
Written by Alice and longtime co-writer/producer Nicolas Rebscher, the “Why So Serious” single is a song that brings positive light into this sometimes too serious world we live in.
With Alice’s positive outlook on life she sings ‘why so serious, why we so serious, can someone please tell me’ and is about trying to write her next hit and realizing she just has to have fun with it. ‘I was a little upset that everyone would ask if the next song would be as successful as 'No Roots'. And then I thought, screw this! I'm happy, I have the time of my life, so: Why so serious?’ Although sticking to Alice’s electric guitar riff-laden sound she’s come to form, this song brings a more pop filled positioning with a well-honed production and strong melody and chorus leading into a well-written Bridge of ‘I want to live with no regrets, I don’t want to care of what if’s, cos what if those things don’t last’.
Alice's recent hit song "Lash Out" broke into the AAA Top-10 coming in at #9 and worked its way up the alt-radio charts officially debuting in the top 15. Her debut single "No Roots" held #1 for 2 consecutive weeks at alternative radio, held it for 8 weeks in Canada, and reached #1 on the AAA charts 5 weeks in a row. She also cracked the Top 30 on the pop charts (#26), the Top 15 on Hot AC (#13), and entered The Billboard Hot 100,
Alice Merton toured the US supporting the brilliant Vance Joy, has been championed by Billboard Magazine, Rolling Stone Magazine, performed on Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show, James Corden's Late Late Show and Live With Kelly and Ryan.
The last 2 years have also brought some impressive stats, She has gone platinum in 6 countries, Top 10 in 10 countries, 261 million + global streams #1 Spotify Global Viral Charts, 8.9 million Shazams, and even received a recent 2018 Teen Choice Awards Nomination in 'Best Rock'.
Knowing her journey and what’s to come including her stats so far, it’s hard to think that the young Alice Merton is only just getting started.

CU$$$O Debuts NYC-Inspired Collector’s Bins To Kick Off Their Home Product Line.
Order exclusively on: https://cussso.com/
New York, NY — October 20, 2021— NYC-based company CU$$$O is working to redefine the artistic energy of one’s home. To go about this, they’ve decided to give everyday household items a more subversive tone. After discussing a variety of items that could use a vibrant makeover, they’ve announced their first item of focus as The Collector’s Bin: a multi-purpose container built with a high-quality metal body and wrapped in a pop-art, street-style design. It’s already evident these bins are one of a kind.
For CU$$$O, things took off last year; while folks were restricted to their homes, the team came up with a big idea: why not bring the city’s iconic street art indoors? Over a year since that idea first manifested, the team sees that individuals are still working from home and want to liven up their personal space. The team determined the trash bin was an item that needed a design overload because it plays such a vital role, stating, “If you place this bin inside, it’ll break rules. It can have a multi-purpose use: a valuable household product that also serves as an art piece”.
CU$$$O offers three Collector’s Bins that obtain the ethos of NYC. The first bin is The U$P$ Collector’s Bin which emulates the distinct USPS mailboxes seen across every neighborhood in NYC. The CU$$$O team was influenced by how the metallic blue instantly attracts one’s attention.
The same goes for the second design, which is labeled The New York Pop Bin. This product pays tribute to the New York Post vending machines that have played a part in New Yorkers’ lives for decades. Its vibrant yellow color and famed font are among the city’s most recognizable symbols and can often be seen closely paired with the USPS bins. CU$$$O’s team determined that as much as these colors stand out among the eclectic exteriors of NYC, they could have the same effect inside the home.
The third and, for the moment, final bin is the CU$$$O Bear Collector’s Bin which is striking due to its unique design. While the first two bins play off of artifacts one passes while journeying around the city, this bin takes a distinct artistic turn. Referred to as the “N95 Soldier” design, this container isn’t meant to give folks a grave reminder of the past year-plus—in fact, the design’s main influence was from the Disney+ show The Mandalorian. The graffiti influence also differs from the previous bins, this time not showing the art but rather the artist, as the illustrated face resembles both The Mandalorian and the masks of street artists.
The team reflects on the designs further saying, “The home is personal property, so of course, you don’t want to have graffiti on the walls, but if you have something with a large surface area that’s a good way to bring in that influence. It (The Collector’s Bin) can provide an interesting contrast, something wild that can bring new energy and inspiration”.
With these bins, CU$$$O’s story is just beginning. They’ve already mentioned plans to expand beyond “The City That Never Sleeps.” While these containers focus on NYC, future bins may draw influence from other cultural destinations across the world. CU$$$O hopes to continue creating similar products that can be used across our homes for years to come. They’ve already begun to consider furniture, sculptures, storage, and toys as their next steps—a vision that could involve an entire universe of products.
